Constitution Day is An Opportunity to Introspect, Says Oppong Nkrumah
The Minister for Information has said that the commemoration of the Constitution Day offers Ghanaians an opportunity to introspect constitutional progress in Ghana.
Recounting the eras when Ghanaians were ruled by arbitrariness and oppression, he indicated that the Constitution day has become necessary for us as Ghanaians to continuously remind ourselves of how far we have come as a nation and how we are continuously building on constitutional governance.
“The day affords us the opportunity to re-examine the roles of various actors in our constitutional governance”, he added.
The Information minister made these remarks during an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show ahead of the maiden Constitution Day Public Lecture to be organized by the Information Ministry Monday, January 7.
The maiden edition of the lectures is on the topic-Constitutionalism in Ghana’s Fourth Republic: Towards a Functional Performance.
The Lecture will come off at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences and will be addressed by Professor Philip Ebow Bondzi, Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
Prof. Simpson is expected to make a case for improvements in constitutional governance while underscoring the gains achieved so far.
